Tradeoffs was founded to help America have smarter health policy conversations. And, given some of the ideas we’ve heard during the election, having smarter health policy conversations is as important as it’s ever been.
In the coming months, we know there will be lots of quick-hit reporting and tons of speculation. What a second Trump term will actually mean for health policy is still unclear. Some of that will depend on whether Republicans control both houses of Congress.
I’m writing this note today to let you know that the team at Tradeoffs is here to track conservative health reform proposals and help you make sense of it.
I’m also writing to make you a promise.
Tradeoffs will continue to ground our reporting in rigorous research and evidence, speaking with experts and producing stories that cut through the noise to help us better understand America’s costly and often counterintuitive health care system.
We’ve already covered President-elect Trump’s positions on three key issues, and what a Republican sweep could mean for the ACA to give you a sense of what could be in store and we will continue to bring you new reporting as the Republican agenda becomes clearer.
Some of you may remember, I’ve been here before. I covered the first Trump administration – and its efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare for Marketplace. My job, as a journalist, is to inform people through trustworthy journalism and the stories of people. I stand by that and look forward to continuing that important work.
You’ve told us that this work matters, and we couldn’t do it without you. Let us know what coverage you’ll be looking for in the coming months by emailing us at info@tradeoffs.org, and please consider donating to help us continue our important coverage of this new administration.
